Osteoporosis Update- another question

First ,I'd like to thank everyone who kindly responded to my questions about my 81 year old aunt. She saw a doctor yesterday who says the problem with her neck is osteoarthritis , not osteoporosis. I'm somewhat surprised by the diagnosis since she isn't in any pain. The doctor gave her some exercises to do, and a prescription in the form of a nasal spray. She could not easily read the doctor's writing (hadn't yet gone to the pharmacy when I called her)- the prescription name begins with the letters "mir" or "mer". Can anyone tell me what this is? I'm also a little concerned about her doctor's knowledge base. From this website I received a suggestion for her to try Evista, and her doctor has never heard of it. Even I have seen ads for it all over the place.

Thanks again!
