amenorrhea and provera

Hi I used depo provera from Aug 2002-July 2003. I stopped because of decreased libido and sensations, vaginal dryness, and moderate weight gain (6#,all fat on my lower belly). My menstrual period has still not returned. I have seen an endocrinologist and am awaiting results from thryroid testing, prolactin, testosterone, dhea, cortisol, and urine cortisol. I switched from Planned Parenthood to another gynecologist today. She wanted, in conjuction with reviewing my test results from the endocrinologist, to do an ultrasound and start me on Provera for 5 days to stimulate a period. I am concerned about using provera, since its medoxyprogesterone that got me into this situation in the first place. When I asked her if it was the same chemical, she said no. The way I left it with her was that I wanted to do some research on Provera before I decide whether or not I want to use it. After reading several posts on this site, it seems that she should have done further hormonal testing to evaluate what course of action to take. It seems as though her approach is just to give me these drugs and see what happens. This, frankly, scares me.

Could the doctors here please advise me on other approaches??? What about natural progesterone cream??

Thanks for your input, Sabrina
