Missed period/possibly pregnant? Switching pill brands with one month gap

I amd 34 years old and had been on Loestrin almost consistently for about 5 yrs ( some times i missed a month when I could not get a refill in time). In early December 02 I finished a pill pack and had a period immediately thereafter( started Dec 12). The following month( mid December- early Jan), I did not take any oral contraceptives and did not have sex. However, my period did not arrive at the end of that month as expected. In early January( Jan 10) I started a new pill pack, anyway, of a new brand that the pharmacist said was "the same" as Loestrin ( Micrette, I think). Although my period had not arrived, I started the new pill pack on the date it should have arrived. I was sexually active and without a back up method from Jan 10--14, therafter, I used a condom as back up except for once again on Jan 23. I am concerned about the missed period, the lack of a back up method and the change in pill formularly. I have been experiencing nausea, frequent urination and am paranoid . I took a pregnancy test on about Jan 17, which was negative. Is it possible I am pregnanT? When would I have ovulated? Was it a mistake to start the new brand even though I had not had a period? Any insight is appreciated.
