Teen Bleeding AssessmentFrom: Mom (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Jan 2003 14:52:43 -0600 (CST)
My daugher has had her period for about 11 days now, it was a week and a half early and now it is time she would be having her normal period. She is 13 and has been having her period regularly for over 2 years now. She has always been regular before, and her period always lasts 5 days. The amount of bleeding she has now is consistant with her normal period which seems moderate to me. I printed a Bleeding Assessment Diary for her from "Gynecologic Health Center" http://www.womens-health.com/health_center/gynecology/gyn_tst_bad.html which seemed like it would be helpful in assessing the bleeding. I told her to chart her period on it. From what I read it is probably a hormone imbalance, but why all of a sudden? How soon should I panic and take her to the doctor? Could something serious be wrong with her, or is it just a temporary thing that will pass? She had a really bad cold this month, and we also attended a convention, which included a lot more sitting than she is used to for a couple of days, also excitement and perhaps stress. Could any of this have caused the problem? Is there something natural or herbal that she could do to bring her harmones into balance.
