cyst and hormonesFrom: Elaine (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 22 Jan 2003 19:33:49 -0600 (CST)
After my first child, I was unable to find a birth control pill that didn't make me feel awful. From heart palpatations, to crying jags - the ones I tried made me feel like a basket case. I went off them and we had another child. The first month of pregnancy (before the test to confirm) I felt like I was back on the pill. The crying jags, anxiety and all were back. Oddly, during both my pregnancies after the initial 8 weeks I felt better emotionally than at any time in my life. I have since had a hysterectomy so pregnancy is not possible. A cyst was found almost three months ago. I'm finding that I feel like I'm back on the birth control pill though. Could a simple fluid filled cyst upset hormones in such a way? I have an on and again off again throbbing pain on the side the cyst was found on. Also, the pain seems to increase around the same time every month. It's always on the side with the cyst, so ovulation pain doesn't seem like it could be the problem since it doesn't happen to my other ovary at all. Thank you for any information you can provide. I know cysts can effect hormones to cause irregular bleeding, but am unclear if they could cause one to feel as if they are on birth control pills.
