I went to the gynecologist several months ago originally because I was having pains in my lower right groin area and the right side of my pubic bone. My doctor immediately concluded that it must be a colon problem and decided that it didn't need further investigation. He took a pap smear (b/c I hadn't had in one in about 3 years) and I was later informed that my pap smear came back abnormal so I returned to the doctor for further testing. He then performed a Colposcopy along with an ECC and informed me that the cells were severely precancerous. Several days later I was informed that the ECC was "normal" and I should return in 4 months. I'm guessing that "normal" means there isn't currently invasive cancer. I have been doing some research on severe dysplasia and everything I've read indicates that it needs to be treated. My questions are these: 1) Does my severe dysplasia need to be treated? 2) What could be causing the pains in my lower right groin area and pubic bone? (I also sometimes experience aching at the place that my leg and torso meet.) 3) Is there any correlation between the dysplasia and the pain I am experiencing? 4)What causes severe dysplasia besides the HPV virus? (My gyno informed that I probably have a virus, yet he also informed me that most cases of HPV show up as mild dysplasia rather than severe.) If you can offer any help, I would greatly appreciate it. I am so confused and frustrated at this point and I would be so grateful for any information you could provide. Thanks!!!
