Never ending vaginal infection and cervical erosion

I've been with my current partner for the past three years.During this time I have had innumerable vaginal infections and my gynae always mentions that I have a thick white discharge when she examines me (although I've never noticed it myself). I never had any problems with my one previous partner and my gynae jokingly commented that I could possible be allergic to my current one!Incidentally I am the only sexual partner he has ever had. I understand that in this time we could have been passing this infection back and forth since each time I was the only one being treated. This last time I have had an infection that has been dragging on since october. My partner has been treated this time round with a single course of antibiotics and an antibiotic cream. Meanwhile I have had four courses of antibiotics, creams etc till I'm totally fed up. I still feel uncomfortable inside and occasionally itchy. At my latest appointment my gynae commented that I'm all clear except for one small area on my cervic which will need to be cauterised. My questions are...how likely is it that all this could have affected my fertility (we're talking almost 3 years on and off infections which also spread to my uterus at one point) and how likely is it that my partner was the original problem? Also, was this erosion likely to be a cause or an effect of this 'chronic' infection? Thanks
