Please read, Ascus Cells Associated with Disease?From: anonymous@obgyn.netFri, 10 Jan 2003 12:10:28 -0600 (CST)
I am concerned about my pap result as it showed Ascus Cells. During a lengthy separation from my husband a few years ago, during sex with another man, the condom broke. After reconciling with my husband a few months later we conceived our 1st child. Five months post the unsafe incident at my 1st prenatal appt. I was tested for everything including HIV. All of which came up negative. The pap smear I had 6 weeks after giving birth came oput normal, however, at my last pap which was 1 year after giving birth, Ascus Cells appear. Is there any correlation with HIV? I have discussed with Dr's. that 5 months after unsafe sex that an HIV test showing negative would mean it really is negative. I will go back for another pap smear in a few months to see if the cells are gone but I am afraid something more sever will appear.
