[Birth Control] Birth Control and AntibioticsFrom: anonymous@obgyn.net ("anonymous@obgyn.net")Fri, 3 Jan 2003 19:41:39 -0500 (EST)
Hi- I have been taking Birth Control Pills near perfectly for 3 1/2 years. Recently for a mouth infection I took the antibiotic Cleocin for 2 weeks. I knew antibiotics reduce the effect of BC, so during sex over the course of a week I used a condom twice, the withdrawl method without comdoms 4 times and according to the calendar method my first "unsafe" day was not until the day after the last time I had sex with my boyfriend. I have a long distance relationship so there are long periods of abstinence. Are the methods I used reliable or should I consult a doctor about taking a pregnancy test? My period is not due for another 18 days. Thanks.
