bleeding placentaFrom: Tammy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Dec 2002 12:27:07 -0600 (CST)
First I will give a little history - I have a history of cyclical pain on my left side. Last year my doctors found a cyst on my right ovary which was wrapped around my right tube. Both the cyst and tube were remove. I continued to have pains on my left side around 14 days after my first day of my period. I had more Ultra Sounds which the radiologist said she saw cycts on my left ovary but my dr dismissed them. I am now pregnant and just had my first US yesterday at 6 weeks/6 days. I saw my baby and the yolk sac on one side of the gestational sac, but on the other side was some kind of mass or something. When I asked the radiologist about it she said she was not sure what it was but wanted to to a vaginal to get a better look. Today, my doctors nurse called with the results and made no mention of it, just said that 'yes, you are pregnant'! I asked that she inquire about what it could have been. She called back and the doctor said that there was a little bleeding on the back side of the placenta and there is nothing we can do about it so not to worry. So, my question is...does that sound right? would that mass actually be the placenta already? I am not spotting or bleeding...Any information to help me understand would be appreciated. Thank you
-- Tammy
