2nd posting - PLEASE ANSWER!!! Big mistake with pills!!!

I just realized that I messed up my pills this month. I'm taking ortho tricyclen. In November I took my pills as scheduled. December 6th I'd have started with the placebo week, but I started a new pack because I didn't want to have a period. I took pills 1-14 on schedule, but spotted on and off starting on Dec 11th. (called obgyn and she said not to worry) I just realized that I took the wrong pack of pills when I went out of town December 20th and took placebo pills through Dec 26th. That week, I thought my spotting was getting heavier, but now I realize that it was probably my period. So in essence, I took 5 straight weeks of the active pills, then 1 week of placebos (Not taking week 3 of the second pack)

Its the weekend so I called my friend who is an MD and she said I'm probably fine, to take a HPT and if its negative (it was) to start my new package of pills today (Sunday) Which I did.

I guess my questions are:

Do you think the HPT results were accurate? Should I do a blood test (and if so, how soon can I do one?)

How likely is it that I could have gotten pregnant between 12/20 and 12/26?

I know that Ortho-tricyclen pills differ each week. What is the significance of the blue pills and could I have ovulated since I started the placebo on day 15?

Should my husband and I use backup during this new pack?

I feel so stupid!!! Nothing like this has EVER happened before, I guess the holiday hub-bub got me off track.

Thanks, CDM
