I'm 17 years old, and I have had my period since I was 12 years old. It has been extremely irregular ever since I first got it. i understand that one should become regular 4 years after becoming menstruated. when i was 15 i was put on ortho tricyclen to make my cycles more regular and to help my acne. it did wonders for my acne( after approx. 5 months on it, it cleared it right up)however, i gained 20 pounds in 2 months, and became very depressed along with brest tenderness, nausea and serious mood swings. i was on it for about 1 year when my doc finally took blood tests and found out that i had very high cholestorol levels. so she took me off of it and i went on a diet to lower my cholesterol. eventually, my cholesterol levels came down. now, i was put on alesse by a different doctor, i took it for 1 month and i gained 9 pounds. why is this? i feel an uncontrolable drive to eat everything in my sight! and i get bad mood swings of anger and depression. will these symptoms last?i am SO tired of living with my irregular menstrual cycle(its irregular, i get VERY sick when i get it ) but the pill gives bad side effects as well! should i keep on taking alesse in hopes that the side effects will eventually taper off or am i just one of those woman who will can't take the pill without suffering from these side effects( large weight gain+depression) i worked extremely hard to lose 20 pounds, lower my cholesterol and keep it off. i dont want the weight to come creeping back after all that work just because of the pill. i am really fed up and don't know what to do!
