Maxine,

Getting a woman doctor won't solve anything. Some of the most heartless ones are female and some of the most compassionate doctors are men. They are individuals just like anyone else. I don't think anyone would take anything the wrong way when getting a Christmas card, but your doctor should have been more gracious. However, are you sure he celebrates Christmas? My current and previous gyn are Jewish (2 men, 1 woman)- have you thought of that possibility? However, I can't imagine any of them reacting to a Christmas card or greeting this way from any patient.

Also, have you asked your doctor why he doesn't do a physical exam post-partum? There could be a reason for it and you should ask, rather than being left with the feeling he doesn't care about you as a patient.
