Birthcontrol & Pregnancy

I stopped taking birth control pills this past March, I had been on them since 1988. I'm 33 years old and I've been trying to get pregnant for the past 9 months. I've been throughly examined and was given a clean bill of health. Recently, I've been using ovulation kits and I'm beginning to get a little worried. Should it be taking me this long to get pregnant? Is it because I was on the pill for so long? Please Advise.
