(Drs/others)What should I do?From: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 11 Dec 2002 09:31:26 EST
Hi, I don't believe any of the drs had answered my questions re. the recent lap post I made a few days ago....thank you J for your response, however. If drs/others could take a look at this I'd appreciate it. For anyone who didnt read my post before, I just had a 3 incision laparoscopy where they removed as much endo (stage IV) as they could (was a good amount on the bladder reflection), endometriomas, cysts and cyst walls. They also noticed adhesions and that my ovaries are stuck down near the rectal area and pelvic wall and will need laparotomy to fix it in the future, and to get more endo out. The surgery was Dec 5th. Today is the 11th. Most of the operative effects have gone except one very uncomfortable thing - what I assume is still effects from the trapped air. I had a lap before and the shoulder pain from the phrenic nerve went away on the 4th day after then, just as it did this time. However, in my lower right chest, just under the ribcage, I have severe pain whenever I breathe in deeply, laugh or cough, and sometimes move. It also hurts badly to press on the area. Its only on the right side and has only been present since after the surgery. It has not gotten better, I actually think its a little worse. I've been having to breathe shallowly for the past few days and it really gets annoying. I do feel a strange sensation (perhaps from the air?) sometimes after exhaling. I did not think it was possible for it to linger with no improvement after 6 days. Is this something I should be calling my doctor about? I have been calling about so many things lately I don't want to pester them if its not something serious. I don't know what they could do about it anyway. What can it be due to? I've looked around on the internet and couldn't find any info about pain in that area after a lap. (I've also had nausea and fill quickly after eating, again both starting after the lap.) I've tried heat and tylenol and moving around plenty, its just not going away. Thanks. kas
