Chances of pregnancy using two poor methods. From: Al (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 10 Dec 2002 11:12:46 -0600 (CST)
On the 11th day of her new cycle for 4 consecutive days, my girlfriend missed he doses of the pill. We had intercourse on the 14th day of her cycle (last day she missed her dose). The next evening she took the pill and doubled up for lost pills. In addition, during 3 seperate acts of intercourse during the course of that day/night, I used the withdrawal method each time, and with plenty of time prior to ejaculation. Furthermore, not one act of sex was immediately after the other. This much I know (or think i know): 1. Approx. failure rate of withdrawal done correctly - 20% 2. Myth that sperm exists in precum. 3. Sperm could remain in my urethra until next sex act. 4. 14 days after beginning of her cycle - ovulation. Questions: 1. If I am wrong on any points correct me? 2. Was doubling up on the missed doses pointless? 3. If she had been on the pill for years, does it change the chances of prenancy? 4. Any odds or statistics on what her probablity of being pregnant is? [Note: We plan to take a pregnancy test, but I am concerned/interested.]
