[Birth Control] Continous Birth Control

I am currently taking yasmin birth control. I am taking it because of my irregular periods. I have been taking it for four months now and have not yet noticed a very big change. I have read in a recent magazine article that by doubling your birth control pill it will skip. Is this true? If so, is it unhealthy? I am going on vacation next month and would like to know if this is possible. Thank you!
