Sorry you are going through a tough time right now. There is a radiologic procedure, UAE, that may be less expensive than surgery in many cases you could check into. Lupron, or similar agents, have also been used as a temporary measure to shrink the fibroids, but I think they do tend to come back after the therapy is over. Either is not cheap by any means, but may be more affordable than surgery. As far as studies are concerned, you may want to check with your nearest medical school or teaching hospital to see if they are participating in such a program. Your county or state might also lend assistance to those who qualify economically. It may not be your choice of caregiver, but it might be better than living with symptomatic fibroids.
