The procedure of choice depends on a number of factors, among them the age of the patient, the severity of the symptoms, as well as the size and speed of growth of the fibroids. IF the bleeding can be controlled by medication, there might not be a need to perform surgery; on the other hand, surgery will effectively eliminate the cause of the bleeding, which in your case seems to be the fibroids.
