Never ending period

I am a 36 year-old woman who is currently having the period that never ends! I'm on day 15 of my period. I have never had a problem with my period before. This period is like none I've ever had. It seems to start, then get heavy, then get light (like it is ending, and then start up again all over. I actually thought I was done because I had two days where there wasn't much at all but today it is back full fledged, complete with cramps (which I normally only have on my first day yet this is day 15!). This is has me concerned. I also am feeling completely wiped out from this period. Very tired. I suspect this is due to having my period this long.

Any thoughts as to the cause of this and also what I can do to stop this would be appreciated.
