Complex Ovarian Cyst and Hydrosalpinx (?)From: Tammy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 21 Nov 2002 13:12:19 -0600 (CST)
I am so confused. I went to an ob/gyn two weeks ago, and was told that a transvaginal ultrasound showed bi-lateral complex ovarian masses, tennis-ball sized on the left, and golf-ball size on the right. (I had a hysterectomy four years ago - cervix and uterus - due to abnormal cell formations on the cervix.) I was referred to a gyn-onco, whom I saw today. Another trans done, and now I'm told that the "mass" on my right side is "probably" a fluid-filled tube (this conclusion was come to because of current measurement, which is 7cm X 2 cm), and that it was difficult to actually see the right ovary. The last trans showed a mass on my right that (according to the gyn) was probably a complex cyst. I have checked into the hydrosalpinx condition, and have no history of PID or endo... what else could cause this? Could there be a mass *and* hydrosalpinx? The current choice of the Drs. is to wait two more weeks to see if the masses go away (although, by their own admission, masses this large usually do not), and if not, probably surgery. Is waiting wise? I am 48 years old, and although not absolutely sure, fairly certain that I am in menopause as I type. I appreciate any help (explanation?) that is offered. Thank you!
