>As an extension of your logic, it would ethical to have personal relationships in the workplace. In a supervisor/employee relationship this almost always affects the other employees in the company because of favoritism shown towards the employee in the relationship. Yet people do it all the time and many think there's nothing wrong with it. Not only is it unethical, it's against the law. When I practiced law I successfully prosecuted a sexual harassment case- my client was a man passed over for promotions given to the boss's girlfriend. For a doctor to make romantic overtures towards a current patient is an abuse of power and may result in a license suspension.
