weight gain and the pill - specifically minovralFrom: pam (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 19 Nov 2002 15:14:43 -0600 (CST)
I have been using the pill for a few months now, and recently my nurse practitioner has switched me to minovral, to hopefully correct the breakthrough bleeding that i was experiencing. My question is regarding weight gain as a result to going on the pill. 1.Is it actually water retention that is to blame or is it fat that has caused my weight gain? 2.If it is fat, is it due to my metabolism slowing down? 3.The minovral has more of the hormone that starts with 'P' then the pill that I was taking before had. Is this going to be the cause of even 'worse' weight gain than the last pill? 4.There is a new pill available in the U.S. - I believe it is called 'Yasmin'. I understand weight gain is not a side effect with this pill. Is this true and when will it be available in Canada?
