Lupron confusionFrom: Deborah (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 14 Nov 2002 19:37:22 -0600 (CST)
I was just prescribed Lupron by my GYN and am confused because I do not have ovaries and therefore I do not produce the estrogen that Lupron is supposed to stop. I am 47 years old. I have a histroy of endometriosis and had a complete hysterectomy and oophorectomy 12 years ago. I am having pain recently in the RLQ which could be palpated today by the doctor. She wasn't sure if I have endometriosis again altho I do have many symptoms of it, but wanted to try something less invasive than surgery and prescribed the Lupron. I have read a lot of information and am afraid to take it now. I did not do well in the 1980's on the Cyclomen type either. Why can't I just stop taking Premarin and go into temporary menopause? Why can't this be surgically ablated? I hate this disease. Shouldn't endometriosis be diagnosed before I go on this awful sounding drug? How can I best talk to my GYN about these fears without insulting her education?
