Lots of DischargeFrom: Christine (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 14 Nov 2002 18:11:47 -0600 (CST)
I am a 38 y/o who has been having recurrent yeast infections for 3 years. Been tested for HIV and diabetes and am okay there. Still keep getting yeast. Last week I came down with a throat infection and was put on a 10-day course of antibiotics. As soon as I started the antibiotics, I started a 3-day course of Mycelex-3. All seemed well until about 3 days after I ended the treatment (and 6 days into the antibiotic). All of a sudden I have a lot of thinner, mostly clear discharge. It is enough that my underwear feel damp and that I sometimes feel it gush out. Also, today my pelvic area has some minor pain on both sides. I have no fever. It seems to me that the antibiotic is causing this. Would this be a form of a yeast infection? I do have some irritation also although not severe. Incidentally, most times when I think I have a yeast infection I do go to my doctor (if I can get in) and I am always tested for yeast (and confirmed) as well as cultured. I've also had this type of pelvic discomfort with *some* of my yeast infections. I guess my question is, what else would this thin, clear, voluminous discharge indicate? I am used to my discharge being white and thick mostly? Thanks, Christine
