long periods and painful breast lumpFrom: Felicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 14 Nov 2002 12:20:01 -0600 (CST)
I am 9 months postpartum and I have a question about my period. My normal cycle before pregnancy was about 4-5 days, with the last days being very light. Now my periods are very heavy for the first two days and then I have discharge, light, for approximately 7-9 more days. I was diagnosed with a fibroid during my preganancy. I has shrunk but is still there. Is this normal? Also I had my OB check out a breast lump I had about three months ago. He told me it was probably a cyst and that I could see a surgeon if I wanted it removed. He did not suggest a Mamogram. I am 42 years old and have not had a Mamogram in 3 years and I have always suffered with fluid filled cyst. Although he said this one was not. I now have a very painful lump in my breast that is probably about the size of a large gumball. Should I see another doctor? I hate it when I feel like I'm being blown off. Why do doctors act so blase sometimes? Thanks for the advice!
