Cold Cone BiopsyFrom: Nicole (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 31 Oct 2002 22:43:49 -0600 (CST)
Hi, my name is Nicole and I am a 20 years old. I recently found out that after repeated abnormal paps, I need to have a cold cone biopsy. I am scared out of my mind--will I be able to have more kids? I have done a little research online and found that there is a small risk of infertility or an incompitent cervix. I have one child that will turn 2 in January (she was 4 weeks early--would this effect my chances of having an even earlier delivery next time after the biopsy?) My husband and I both strongly want more kids later in life, but I now fear that it might not happen. I've read that the Leep procedure is less invasive an decreases my chances of having any problems concieving. Could this be an option for me? Another question--I was told during the colcoscopy that it looked like I had precancerous cells, but does needing a cold cone biopsy mean I could already have cancer?? Any info, opinions, or stories are greatly appreciated. Thanks,
-- Nicole
