Happy Halloween Maggie. I don't know the accuracy rate but it does prevent cell clumping as seen on regular paps and it uses all the cells that were swabbed from the cervix instead of just what is smeared on to the slide. After your swabbing the stick or brush is then swirled in the jar of liquid and the whole sample will be viewed by a tech and maybe a Dr. If your Md doesn't use thin prep or pap net or says insurance won't pay for it, demand it and pay the difference. Cost wise I heard it's maybe $30-60 more than reg. pap. Worth it though. You could probably raise a grievance with your insurance co and point out your history and tell them it's more cost effective for them to pay for this test verses possible cancer treatment or more costly procedures in the future.
