? about gall stones found on right ovary and uterusFrom: Christine (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 31 Oct 2002 10:19:23 -0600 (CST)
I had my gall bladder removed 2 years ago due to horrible attacks and it was found to be full of stones. A few years later I got pg and delivered in May of this year. After delivery I started having horrible pains in my pelvis. After an ultrasound showed nothing my gyn did an exploratory laproscopy. He found many gall stones attached to my right overy, the back of my uterus and parts of my colon. He said he couldn't remove them all without cutting me open so he had to leave some behind, he claims a minimal amount but can't give me an exact number. So my question is what are the chances the stones left inside me will cause me problems in the future? Is there a chance that there are stones in places other than my pelvic cavity? Also, how common is it to have stones left behind after surgery to remove a gall bladder? My gyn said if I was still having problems he would do the more invasive surgery to remove the rest of the stones, would it be worth it to have them removed even if I wasn't having problems now? Thank you for any advice,
-- Christine
