Hormones + Birth Control

I am currently on femhrt 1/5. I am 36 years old, and was put on these by my doctor, due to excessive periods (2 to 3 weeks per month) plus possible pre-menopause. I am considering getting the Depo-provera shot, and am wondering if it is safe to continue taking the femhrt. Per a registered nurse, she did not advise me to remain on the femhrt (plus take the depo shot) due to the fact that my periods have completely stopped. She said it is very unhealthy to completely stop a menstrual cycle, due to the high possibility of osteorporosis being a major side effect / concern later in life. I am planning on getting the depo shot within the next 2 weeks, and am really wondering whether I should stop the hormones (femhrt). Any help / advice you could give would be greatly appreciated!
