Hello, I have two questions. The first is I am having trouble convincing my doctor that the medication that I am taking for depression called serzone, has stopped my periods for as long as eight months. By manipulating the drug I have managed to ward off problems with endometriosis and fibroids. Although after three years I am facing a hysterectomy next month, I am certain that the serzone helped.

The second question is regarding thyroid levels and birth control pills. After being on the pill for a few years I was placed on thyroid pills. A few more years passed and my new doctor took me off the thyroid pills and I had my first episode of what I know now was atrial fibrillation. I did not associate the thyroid level drop with the atrial fibrillation until years later. The first episode lasted about twenty minutes and I stopped taking the pill a short time after that. I did not return to taking the pill until it was used to control the pain from fibroids and endometriosis. After being on the hormones for over a year I was rudely awakened by atrial fibrillation and it lasted over eight hours. I did not convert to a normal rhythm until electric shock was used. This happened twice and the doctor put me on lanoxin to help control the atrial fibrilation. As far as I can tell it is only my T3 level that drops and my question is, should I be concerned being on progesterone for six weeks now that I will have problems with atrial fibrillation during the surgery I will face next month. If there is concern, any idea what level would be considered dangerous?

Thanks, Laureen
