Chicken Pox, Shingles, and Rhinocort Aqual Nasal Steroid SprayFrom: Lyn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 22 Oct 2002 08:30:58 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, Not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question, but I am VERY concerned and the doctors here have been very helpful to me with previous questions. I appreciate your time. I am a 31 year old female who is being treated for seasonal allergies with Rhinocort Aqua nasal spray. I just became aware last night that my 28 year old sister was exposed to the chicken pox virus at a child's birthday party in late September (apparently one of the child's sisters had the chicken pox and the child was carrying the virus, although the child didn't have the virus herself). My sister developed Shingles from this exposure and broke out in the rash last night. I spent a lot of time with my sister this past weekend (on Friday night and all day Sunday). My question is, can I get Chicken Pox or Shingles from being exposed to my sister? I had Chicken Pox as a child, but I am concerned because I am taking Rhinocort Aqua daily for my allergies and remember reading something about my immune system being compromised and if I am exposed to Chicken Pox I should contact my doctor immediately. Thank you for your response! I appreciate any advice you can give.
