Taking the Pill Always to Avoid PeriodsFrom: Lili (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 19 Oct 2002 21:43:45 -0400
I've just been switched to a lower dose pill, Alesse, and was told by my doctor to just start a new 21-day pack immediately after the first pack is finished, so that to avoid that "low" I get with PMS altogether by having a period. I am 44 years old and am only on the pill for to alleviate my PMS, as I don't need birth control anymore with my husband having had a vasectomy. Is there anyone else out there who does this and until how long have you done this for? I am told I can keep taking this pill right onto hormone replacement therapy when I need to around 50, as long as I don't smoke. I am curious if keeping my hormone level the same every day of the month will really keep my mood swings in check! If there is anyone out there that can attest to this method I would love to hear so! Lili
