Anovulation cycle only once?

I have had cycles like clockwork my entire life. I am never late, never irregular, never any in between bleeding or spotting. After my first baby, I nursed for thirteen months, and didn't have a normal cycle until I stopped nursing. Since then I have had two cycles, absolutely normal, thirty days apart. I was thrilled to be back on schedule. We are now trying for baby number 2. This month, I think I have had an anovulatory cycle. No regular bleeding, just spotting and traces of blood a week before my period was due. Is it typical for this to happen just once and for my cycle to then return to normal? Also, how can I predict when I might be ovulating again if I never really have a normal period. One more question... would it be okay to help regulate my cycle again by using some natural progesterone cream? Thanks,
