PCOS and insulin resistance?

I had my first appointment with an OBGYN after my GP found high testostorone and poly-cyctic ovaries. My husband and I have been trying for a year now, and over the last year I have only had 5 periods.

Anyway, as my new OBGYBN was giving me the requisitions for the Day 3 and Day 21 blood test, I noticed that she was checking my prolactin, my TSH, but she didn't do a test for insulin resistance. After I asked her about this, her response was that they have gone back to treating PCOS with Clomid, and not insulin resistance. When I asked her to just humor me and test my insulin because diabetes does run in my family, her response was that diabetes is something that my GP should be checking for.

Am I missing some new information somewhere? Are people now saying that there is NOT a strong correlation between PCOS and insulin resistance?
