15 year old in alot of pain....From: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 17 Oct 2002 21:53:09 -0500 (CDT)
My daughter has had alot of problems with her menstrual cycles, which have caused her to vomit at least 1 day with each period, to go through 3 tampons an hour when it's heavy and to cry from the pain she's been having. We finally talked her into going to the dr back in August. The ob/gyn told her that it's perfectly normal for teens and put her on tri-levlen in August. Since then, she hadn't stopped bleeding and had been vomiting for several nights in a row, so we took her back in. She was dehydrated, so yet another dr. put her on iv, gave her phenergen in the iv and also pills, and changed her pill to lo-ovral last month. She finally stopped bleeding last week, but was curled up in a ball on her bed the other night, crying because she was in so much pain. They told us that if this pill doesn't work, they'll try provera. We have an appt scheduled next week and I was wondering if I should ask about the possibility that it could be endometriosis/adenomyosis...they found both with me, during a hysterectomy done a year ago. I hate the thought of putting her through a laparascopy, but I also can't stand to see her in so much pain. I really would appreciate any suggestions or advice on this from the docs here and any ladies with similiar situations. Thank you all so much in advance for your help...everyone here is always so caring and wonderful...thanks again!
