I just had a 5 to 6 inch incision/open laporatomy for removal of a small dermoid cyst. I was discharged the next day at noon. Everything I read about laporatomy sais a 3 to 5 day hospital stay and 2 to 3 days of liquid food afterword. I am so confused as to why the decision was made to allow me to go home so soon? The doctor also did a hysterscopy and D&C. I am swollen and bruised all the way up to my diaphgragm under my rib cage. I had to take laxatives the past two days finally to be able to have a bowel movement. I recieved no discharge instructions or follow up call from the doctor. I feel fine now (2 days later) after the surgery except crampy pains inside my abdomine on and off and the bruised feeling all over my abdomine. The night of surgery my blood pressure was very very low and my heart was racing up to 120 beats per minute, w/a low grade fever of 100.4. I wonder what would cause those things also , as that was never explained to me either. I guess I just feel Jaded and wonder why everything I read about the surgery is so different from what happenned to me. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks so much.....tricia
