I completely agree. This planet is not just our home. We are so concerned about animal populations that we shoot what we consider to be an unhealthy oversupply in order to restore a natural (endangered) area to health. Yet it seems that our own overpopulation problem is being ignored. Since we are the only animals that have an understanding of the reproductive system, I feel we should be able to bring this problem under control. People have the brains and the means, to ignore this problem is inexcusable. I am watching the elections in our area and the candidates are seemingly basing their entire platforms on money for education, childcare etc. The truth is, we can't afford this. I should know. I'm single, childless and yet paying for it. If parents were forced to pay for even half of their childrens' total education bill, I think we'd see a big change in the birth rate and eventually a much needed upswing in the quality of life. No one should feel that procreating is a right or that being childless is an act of selfishness. Quite the opposite is true.
