May i have an MD's clarification? (STD & Transmission)From: confused (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 15 Oct 2002 15:36:26 -0500 (CDT)
Hi. Thanks for your time. My boyfriend who has gotten cold sores twice a year for 5 years perfomed oral sex on me and the very next day a cold sore became visible on his lip. I had a blood test done for HSV antibodies a week and a half later. Only then i realized i probably took the test too early. It's been about a month and i don't have any vaginal sores. I asked my GYN if i should restest and she said that if i don't have a break out then the anitbodies wouldn't show up. IS THAT TRUE? I always thought they would even if one didn't have an out break of herpes. also, What are the chances i now have genital HSV 1 and what factors contribute to it????? Should i retest and if i should then how long should i wait? Thanks
