Re: Debunking progesterone creamsFrom: Laurie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 15 Oct 2002 11:11:31 -0500 (CDT)
Sorry I was a little annoyed so i didn't make myself clear. My problem with the FDA is that they refuse to recognise that over 30% of the population has a reaction to MSG that can be life threatening if eaten in large enough amounts.(http://www.msgtruth.org) The FDA has only required the labeling of PURE MSG. I would be perfectly happy to let people munch away on poison if the want to but the FDA has made it LEGAL for food companies to hide MSG in other names so as to appear that it s MSG free. I have to read labels with a fine tooth comb (sorry i just mixed my metaphors :) And still I cannot tell whether i will have a orrible reaction to something because the producer doesn't have to tell me. Did you know that hydrolized vegetable protein in your tuna has more than 40% pure MSG and it doesn't have to be labeled? The FDA has continued to Give it a GRAS label. "Generally recognized as safe" However it is linked to horrible childhood problems like ADD, ADHD, asthma, autism etc and many adult problems like congestive heart failure, atrial fibrilation (that's me) Alzheimers, and parkinsons. This is my concern. If they can't label something this important why would they want to control progesterone cream. They can get money form the creams and they will lose money if MSG is labeled because much of their money and their officials come form the food industry.>>
ok - so msg is not safe because YOU are allergic? well, i'm allergic to
>>shellfish >>i'm no fan of the fda, but you're not making sense.
I have read my reports and the label given MSG is the same lable given
to baking powder and salt (GRAS)
(and since when is salt so safe??)After 1959 further research showed
what types of reactions occurred in which specific populations. That's
why the FDA REQUIRES THE MANUFACTURERS TO LABEL THE PRODUCT. (90% of
msg containing foods are not labeled with their true contents
