My husband goes with me everytime I have a pap smear (or any OB/GYN appointment for that matter). My doctor has never minded, in fact he lets my husband look on and explains everything as he goes. (Which is good, since my husband is in school to become an EMT, it is all interesting to him.) I'm sure your doctor would be fine with it, he probably has more patients that do the same thing
