Never ending fibroids

Eight years ago I had a hysteroscopy with uterine ablation. The doctor also performed a laparoscopy. After a recent ultrsound the radiologist found a "new" a-typical fibroid. I was rather surprised because at 51, I am post-menopausal and everything I have read says fibroids decrease after menopause. I have had a 54 lb. weight gain, three to five pounds every month for the last 4.5 years. Apparently each time the "new" fibroid flared up so did my weight? What is that about? I am scheduled for an MRI. Should I be on medication or is my next step a hysterectomy? Please advise. NQ
