dysfunctional uterine bleedingFrom: CH (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 3 Oct 2002 16:03:15 -0500 (CDT)
I am 42, 3 children, 1 c-section. For the past year I have experienced prolonged and irregular spotting (and my "regular period" is down to 1 heavy day). During this time, I have also had bleeding after intercourse (a yr ago had LEEP for this but it contiues), vaginal bleeding with bowel movements, and stool shaped like a ruler. My Gynecologist said to see GP about the stool. I did and the GP did a rectal examine and said my uterus was enlarged, protruding or pusching (I am not sure the correct medical term)into rectum and that explained the shape of my stool. GP said Gynecologist would "take care of that". So, my gynecologist did a vaginal ultrasound with saline infusion and said there are no fibroids, polyps and my uterus is not enlarged - That bleeding is dsyfunctional uterine bleeding and I could take medication or get an ablation. I don't think I will do either because it isn't heavy bleeding and I can put up with it. Since both Docs seem to have dismissed the ruler-shaped stool I guess it isn't important but it is a regular reminder that something odd is going on. Also, mMy bladder capacity is diminished - I have to go after the smallest drink and get up many times in the night. I have a distinct feeling of pressure or the presence of something in the vaginal/rectal area. Much like how later stages of pregnancy felt (pressure of head of baby sensation?). - Does DUB cause bleeding with bowel movements and after sex? - Can DUB cause stool problems? - Can DUB cause small bladder capacity? - Finally, should I bother going to another doctor to get a diagnosis? Thank you for reading my question.
