Paps during pregnancyFrom: Michelle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 2 Oct 2002 12:00:01 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, In Feb 2000 I had laser surgery for moderate to severe dysplasia. Every pap after this time has come back "no abnormal cells" I am now doing my paps every year and my year will be up this coming November. In November I will also be 4-5 months pregnant. Should I carry on and book my pap in November (I see a different Doctor for my paps than I do my prenatals) OR should I wait to resume my paps in April after I have my baby. My Doctor doing my prenatals is aware of the surgury I have had and knows my last pap was last NOvember. Do you think he will recommend one or will he wait recommend waiting until after baby.? A lot of the messages I read about Cervical dysplasia are scary with the thoughts of recurrance. My doctor who performed my laser told me the recurrance rate was only 5%. How is this possible if the virus that was the root of the cells isn't eradicated??? I know I am only allowed one question, but please answer this last one as well. Are there any pregnancy related problems with late miscarrage associated with having had the laser surgery over two years ago that I should be aware of? Thank you for your time. Michelle
