The nurse on duty refused to go along with his order but I insisted on it. Anyway, even if you get gas they have ways to manage it. Believe it or not, they have some sort of old fashioned device that is kind of like an exhaust pipe that they insert in you! But I think that's a lasr resort method. I am aware of hystersisters, and though I like the site, it does tend to attract those that are having problems. I also disagree with a lot of advice there such as "special diets" for gas after surgery. I ate a lot of salads and berries, drank a lot of water and did great, but the advice I read was no or little fruits/veggies. I must be doing something right because I recovered rapidly from surgery and have never been constipated in 46 years. If you are anticipating surgery, I wish you the best.
