dysplasia/hpv questionFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Sep 2002 22:51:35 -0500 (CDT)
I was diagnosed with high-risk HPV in July, and just this month I've been having slight itching and sometimes slightly a little pain in the anal area. It only happens after a bowel movement, and sometimes it doesn't even happen at all. Sometimes when I examine it, it looks like a swollen flap of skin on the outside, but other times I don't see anything at all. I feel it just on one side (the outside of the anus) each time it occurs. I was wondering if this could be anal dysplasia, possibly a wart, or hemmroids? I've heard that hpv can be spread to the anal area (by shaving or scratching), and I used to shave once in a while close to that area. It only started happening just this month (a couple weeks or so ago) - do you think it could be dysplasia, maybe warts, or hemmroids? I don't know how to distinguish between these three things for sure?!
