Sex after Childbirth...From: Maxine (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Sep 2002 16:43:38 -0500 (CDT)
I just had a baby three weeks ago and was wondering how soon after childbirth can I resume having sex. I had a vaginal delivery and all went well. I have stopped bleeding and have no discomforts or discharge of any kind plus my stitches have healed. I read in a pregnancy book that doctors usually recommend waiting 6 weeks after childbirth if the birth was vaginal and 8 weeks if it was a C-section delivery however if the woman is fully healed and there's no bleeding or discharge and the vaginal stitches have healed completely that it's ok to have sex much sooner than the 6 or 8 weeks. Is this true?
