Hep B transmission

My husband of 20 years was just diagnosed with HepB. We are not aware of any exposure he had through blood. Is the only other way through sexual intercourse? To my knowledge I am his only sexual partner ever. I was diagnosed with HPV once - can this be related to Hep B? Also, I had an emergency c-section 12 years ago (under general anasthetic). I was never told that I received blood. Do such surgeries routinely involve giving blood to the patient? My primary concern is his health and the possible transmission to our children, but I have this nagging worry about how he acquired HepB. Thank you for any insight you can give me.
