I went for my annual gyn exam and pap smear on Monday. When the doctor did the pap smear, I felt an uncomfortable pinch. Since Monday, I have had some spotting. It is not pure blood, more like mucus with strands of blood through it. The blood is not red, it is dark brown or light pink. I called the dr. office and told them and the nurse told me that some spotting is normal for 3 to 5 days. Today is day 4. She said to call back if the spotting turned into a heavy flow, like a period. I told her this never happened to me before when I had a pap smear done. The nurse said that is b/c different doctors each go about getting the pap smear slightly differnt. She said the dr. had been maybe more agressive at getting an adequate sample than other doctors I have had in the past. I trust my gyn. and I know he is very thorough. I am just wondering when the spotting should end. I should also mention that I go to the gym every day and run 3.25 mi on average every other day. Anna
