I am not trying to tar and feather anyone for mentioning natural alternatives. It is just that natural is not necessarily safer. Herbs may work fine for some people for others they can be very dangerous. Mixing natural remedies with traditional ones can cause serious complications. People need to be careful and work with their health professional. As I mentioned earlier, herbs and well as vitamin/mineral supplementation, OTC meds and prescription meds can have an effect on whether or not there are complications during or after surgery.

Also, to suggest that someone use herbs and not knowing their health history or what other medications they are taking can be dangerous. It is fine if people want to take herbs, I just think they need to be aware of possible problems. I would say that about taking any kind of medication. Someone who doesn't know about herbs can get themselves into to trouble. Example: Foxglove is natural and is considered an herb, but it is also a potent heart medication.

It is fine for you to suggest herbs, but it is also ok for me to suggest that a person talk to their doctor and educate themselves before trying something that may have serious side-effects. Two sides of an issue were presented. This is a discussion forum.
